Alberta Beef Producers Accepting Applications for Research Funding

Attention researchers:

The Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) is now accepting letters of intent (LOIs) for research and development that address objectives included in the National Beef Research Strategy.

As stated by ABP, “This is an extremely targeted call for proposals, designed to fulfill a very precise purpose, namely the leveraging of funds from other funding organizations for projects focused on one of two specific priority areas.”

Only LOIs clearly related to the following objectives in the National Beef Research Strategy and identified as priorities by ABP will be considered:

  • Reduced incidence of reproductive failure through improved nutritional management, diagnostic tests, vaccination & biosecurity
(National Beef Research Strategy Animal Health and Welfare Outcome 3: Improved Prevention of Animal Disease and Animal Welfare Issues)
  • Reduced neonatal loss through improved maternal nutrition, timing of vaccinations and extension/technology transfer to the cow/calf sector
(National Beef Research Strategy Animal Health and Welfare Outcome 3: Improved Prevention of Animal Disease and Animal Welfare Issues)
  • How grazing and forage management practices on tame and native forages affect plant and animal biodiversity, soil erosion and watershed protection
(National Beef Research Strategy Forage and Grassland Productivity Outcome 2: Environmental Sustainability)

More information on how LOIs should be submitted and will be evaluated by ABP is posted

Deadline for submission is May 23, 2014.
