Speakers
Kathy Larson – Research Economist at Western Beef Development Centre
Kathy Larson joined Western Beef as their Research Economist in April 2010. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan. Her research is focused on getting producers to understand the value in measuring – both costs and production – in order to manage and increase their profit potential. Her research and extension interests include: tools and training on cost of production, the management and marketing practices of cow-calf producers, and the cost-benefit of recommended management practices. She provides economic analysis and training to support the forage and cow-calf research conducted by her colleague, Dr. Bart Lardner, and his students. Originally from a mixed family farming operation near Tyvan in southeastern Saskatchewan, she now resides with her husband and children at Prince Albert where she works from a home office.
Dr. Nathan Erickson – Veterinarian and faculty at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine
Nathan was raised on a mixed cow-calf and swine operation near Stony Plain, Alberta, and later attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated in 2005 and worked in mixed animal practice. In 2009, Nathan completed a master’s degree in which he studied the epidemiology of Mycoplasma bovis. Nathan worked as a cow-calf and feedlot consultant at Veterinary Agri-Health Services where he continued to focus his work on the epidemiology of feedlot calf pneumonia. He also developed a cow-calf consulting program that focused on client education. Dr. Erickson has returned to the WCVM as an assistant professor to continue his passion for beef production research.
What is a webinar?
Webinars are just like attending a workshop or conference, but from the comfort of your own home or office. We bring the presentation right to you. They’re easy to join and participate in. A reliable, high-speed internet connection is required.
All you need to do is register beforehand, and about 5-10 minutes before the webinar is scheduled to begin, click the link you were provided when you registered. Then turn up your computer speakers or call the phone number provided. That’s it! Sit back and enjoy. As a participant, you can anonymously answer polls and surveys, and will have the opportunity to ask questions near the end of the webinar.
